baby W's nursery

i am finally finished with the babe's nursery and cannot wait to show you the pics.

this was so fun to put together and thanks to some very generous family and friends, cost us very little!

here we go...

as you first walk in.

W's door with his homemade banner from great aunt myra. ikea chalkboard previously used in our kitchen for notes to baby W and to hang things. W's closet with a homemade fabric garland and his full, full closet!

this is his changing table area. T gave me the moose head for christmas and i couldn't wait to put it in the nursery. all the prints were printed at home; some bought on etsy and some were free from different blogs! the actual changing "table" is part of the expedit system from IKEA as was the bar and buckets/basket (we're stocking those up with wipes and diaper cream as well as toys to distract!). the sweet cross was a gift from my grandma and grandpa peavler.

here's the rest of the room! the recliner/rocker is my grandparents and the dresser is from our bedroom. the crib was a gift from my dad and jillian. see how lucky we are?! we also picked up the cute gray lattice rug at garden ridge for super cheap!

here are all the little details.
the lab canvas was made by me, had to throw a little dalpal in the room!
the print above his crib is my favorite. it says "hello sweet little boy".
the ledge shelves are from pottery barn and were a birthday gift for me from my momma a couple years ago. they are perfect to hold pics of our family as well as prints of Texas, New York and Kentucky. three states that are really important to our families and can't wait to introduce W to!
curtains are from target. i altered them a little since they were super long and added the gingham ties.
above his mirror are little clipboards with alphabet flashcards that spell his name.
i LOVE the green favorite frame. once we have his newborn pics taken we'll swap them out.
close up of the changing table.
more decor. and no we won't be burning that candle!
the inside of his crib. i love, love, love that sheet. it's from dwell studio and matched perfectly with the bedding set we were given from W's aunt Dale at our louisville shower. and of course he has to  have a super cute stuffed yellow lab named dallas!

i can't believe this room is finally done. we have everything we need (for now!) and can't wait for baby boy to make his appearance so we can show him around. i hope he loves it as much as we do!

update: baby W

how far along? 38 weeks

baby's size? baby boy is the size of a pumpkin...how fitting since he's our little punkin!

weight gain/loss? no weight gain from last week...thank you!

maternity clothes? of course! and starting to wear more of T's shirts and no pants come night time!

starting to show? i'm pretty out there at this point!

belly button in or out? still in, thank goodness!

stretch marks? tiny ones still.

wedding rings on or off? on for now!

sleep? sleep? what's sleep? my hips have been so sore and i can't sleep on my back so sleeping is at a minimum at the moment. i'm lucky if i can get 2 straight hours. it's more like napping at this point!

movement? moving a ton this week still. love those movements but sure wish we could feel them from the outside instead of the inside!

labor signs? still hasn't moved down low yet but i was checked at the doc wednesday and was 2cm dilated and 50% effaced...i'll let you look that up if you want!

best moment this week? lots of walking and bouncing on the exercise ball to get this party started and progress was made. now we just need those contractions to kick in full force! did i really just ask for that?!

food cravings? chocolate. which is weird for me because i don't really crave that ever. and milk. and water.

what i miss: sleeping on my belly, non-maternity clothes and beer.

anything making you queasy or sick? only when he's up super high do i feel queasy or sick. i think it's because he's taking up all the room that my stomach and lungs would normally have!

what i'm looking forward to: labor? i mean, really, i'm ready to get this kiddo out and home in our arms! i do have a few things going on this weekend. dinner plans and shopping and such. should be fun on top of jump starting labor!

how are you feeling? feeling impatient but happy!

update: baby W

how far along? 37 weeks

baby's size? baby boy is the size of swiss chard (yeah, i had to look this one up too!). between 19 and 22 inches and around 6.5 pounds!

weight gain/loss? let's just say i'm going to stop counting! it's not that i've gained a ton but i've been putting on some water weight from swelling over the last week, another not so fun thing about being a woman or pregnant and should totally not count against your weight gain. in my opinion!

maternity clothes? oh yes, and since it's only my belly that's really any bigger, everything is still fitting as long as we have a tank on under all shirts!

starting to show? yes. although not as much as some women. at the doc yesterday a couple of women way behind me had huge bellies. weird how different we all carry our babes!

belly button in or out? still in, thank goodness!

stretch marks? tiny ones still.

wedding rings on or off? on for now!

sleep? i got a bit more sleep this week than before but it's still a rough process. i toss and turn all night but my afternoon naps are a delight!

movement? moving a ton this week...does that mean labor's coming?

labor signs? well we thought he was low but he's not. doctor said yesterday we still have a ways to go. no dilation but having lots of contractions so it could really start to happen anytime.

best moment this week? had our 37 week check up and everyone is healthy. also, T got a better job offer today working day hours!!!! so proud of that hard working husband of mine. he's so good.

food cravings? just food...and water. i'm so thirsty lately.

what i miss: my non-maternity clothes, diet soda (no aspartame for this momma) and sleeping more than 5 to 6 hours at a time (but i don't think this one's coming back anytime soon!)

anything making you queasy or sick? nothing really.

what i'm looking forward to: a little trip to dripping springs to see my cousin dance this weekend and some extra time with hubby since he won't be working weekends any more!

how are you feeling? feeling good. anxious to get this delivery out of the way so we can meet our sweet boy!

april showers...

bring a may baby!

(or maybe a late april baby!!! i can only wish at this point!)

thought i would post pics of our dallas shower for baby W. it was sunday april 7th at my mom's house and hosted by her and my aunt myra.

they did such a fabulous job planning and decorating and cooking!

my beautiful momma

my aunt myra. aka martha stewart and the most wonderful hostess ever!

mom and greg. she loves that little boy so much already!!!

sherry and shelby.

the jacobs family. greatest in-laws!

momma and daddy with the most delish cupcakes!

playing shower games.

guess how many skittles in the bottle. i think there were 254?

most of the loot.

dessert table.

my gift to T for baby W.

all the girls in the fam that made it to the shower.

thanks to myra for our impromptu maternity shoot!

love him. and most of the time he loves me too, see!

he's gonna be such a good daddy!
sherry and myra.

the most adorable banner made by W's great aunt myra. and yes, i just posted his name on the blog for the first time!

cupcake wars?

opening presents. diapers are very appreciated!

we can't begin to thank everyone for coming out and supporting T and I and loving our little guy almost as much as we do!

between this shower and our shower in louisville, we are pretty much all set. i had to run out and get a few things this last week to finish up but we're so ready for W. the car seat is installed, diaper bag packed, hospital bag almost finished and nursery done!

25 days or less, people!

update: baby W

how far along? 36 weeks

baby's size? W is the size of a crenshaw melon, around 5.75 pounds and still somewhere between 18 to 21 inches.

weight gain/loss? we're still under 30 lbs and that's all that matters to me at this point!

maternity clothes? um...duh. and hopefully they continue to fit for the next 4 weeks.

starting to show? large and in charge.

belly button in or out? still in, thank goodness.

stretch marks? very tiny, tiny ones in a few places. disappointing...being a woman sucks sometimes!

wedding rings on or off? still on and proud of the very little swelling i've had thus far. i attribute that to my craving for water all the time.

sleep? not great but not terrible. at least i can take a nap almost every day.

movement? little boy W has decided to camp out under my ribs and this makes for some pretty painful movements at times. although, i'm still thrilled to feel him in there!

labor signs? i've had some real contractions over the last week. nothing regular or super painful but def not BH. good sign?

best moment this week? having our baby shower on sunday. i cannot say enough great things about it! a big thanks to my mom and aunt for hosting, to our family and friends for their generous gifts and love for baby W and to everyone who drove from out of town just to be there. we are so lucky!

food cravings? water, chocolate and ice-cream. my apparent aversion to the cold stuff has gone away and i cannot get enough bluebell homemade vanilla. every night around  8 pm. seriously!

what i miss: sleep, feeling physically able, being a regular person? and beer.

anything making you queasy or sick? since baby boy is getting bigger his movements are much harder and intentional. sometimes he moves so much it makes me sea sick!

what i'm looking forward to: getting the nursery finished up this next week (pics to come!), finishing up the shopping for W, washing everything and our 37 week appointment next thursday.

how are you feeling? pretty good. i'm cranky and tired a lot, still having lots of pressure and just ready for W.

update: baby W

how far along? 35 weeks

baby's size? W is the size of a honeydew melon. 5.25 to 5.5 lbs and 18 to 21 inches.

weight gain/loss? i'm up 24 pounds and the doctor says i can expect to gain about a pound a week now so probably around 30 by the time we're done. not bad since they told me no more than 35!

maternity clothes? of course and even some of those are getting a bit tight!

starting to show? i feel like everything is getting bigger and bigger but really it's just my bump.

belly button in or out? still in, thank goodness!

stretch marks? nope.

wedding rings on or off? on and i'm planning on keeping it that way by drinking my weight in water!

sleep? i got a bit more sleep this week than before but it's still a rough process. i toss and turn all night but my afternoon naps are a delight!

movement? moving a lot this week.

labor signs? some BH contractions. found out W's head down and pretty low so he's getting ready!

best moment this week? had a doctors appointment Monday and heard his strong heartbeat. the doc also said she thinks he'll be early (please, Lord!).

food cravings? sweet tarts or anything sour lately.

what i miss: my non-maternity clothes, diet soda (no aspartame for this momma) and sleeping more than 5 to 6 hours at a time (but i don't think this one's coming back anytime soon!)

anything making you queasy or sick? nothing too bad,  heartburn is most likely here to stay until baby boy comes out.

what i'm looking forward to: going to dallas this weekend! our last shower is on sunday and we'll be spending time with my parents and T's so i'm excited to get away for a few days. although, my doc didn't seem to thrilled about that!

how are you feeling? feeling pretty good. everything's getting so real. we had our tour of the hospital on Monday and it just hit me that in five weeks we should have our baby boy (and i'll go through labor, yikes!). if the doc is right we might just have an april baby!

35 week pic from our baby shower in Dallas!
