she filed for divorce today.

it's only been 72 days. less than 3 months, people. are you kidding me? and it's estimated that their wedding cost 10 million dollars. that's a little less than $140,000 per day. wow, not worth it, amiright?

what has happened to the sanctity of marriage in this country?

i think so many people today get married with the thought, "if it doesn't work out we'll just get a divorce." so they go into marriage before the really should, not sure and not ready.

T and i have been together a long time. i'm talking almost 7 years. we're getting married in less than 11 months. there is no option for divorce. we're in it for better and for worse. when you make a decision to get married you make a decision to spend the rest of your life with that person. not a few months, or years.

now, i understand things happen. people change. and life happens. and if you try your hardest to make it work and things still fall apart then people go their separate ways. i get that. affairs, death, hard times, financial issues, illegal activity. it all happens, all the time. i wish it didn't but you can't control everything in life.

but for a celebrity that's all over t.v., radio, the internet, etc. to get married in such a lavish way and get divorced 72 days later? it's disgusting. what an example for all the young girls/women watching her. i just can't wait to have kids so they can see all this crap, yeah right!

i hope people remember that marriage isn't always easy. it takes work, hard work some days but it's wonderful and worth working for everyday with your best friend beside you. that's what we're going into this marriage thinking, anyway.

crafts: my first quilt

i can finally post the picture of the baby quilt i made for my cousin carrie's baby boy. can't wait for baby zane to be here in about 6 weeks!!!

for the longest time i've been wanting to quilt but i thought it would be so hard and i didn't want to mess it up.

well i agreed to make one for this baby shower and it would be a gift from my grandma cheryl and i so i knew i couldn't disappoint.

as we all know (or you should at least!), this month is breast cancer awareness month.

saturday night during a bout of insomnia i watched the movie Five on lifetime. it's an amazing collection of five short films directed by some amazing women in hollywood. and the actors in the films? amazing!

i would encourage everyone to watch this. it was eye opening and has made me realize that no one is invincible from breast cancer.

FYI you will need tissues. seriously. i balled like a baby. in a good way.

well, it's officially fall in kentucky. the leaves are turning. some are falling. i've had my first cup of hot chocolate. i'm preparing to hoard myself inside as the weather gets cooler. these are the months of my best crafting! i'm making my first pumpkin recipe of the season this week and the crock pot has it's spot out on the counter again. pumpkins are enjoying their spot on the front porch. halloween costumes are being prepared. tailgating and football watching has commenced. new sweaters are being purchased. scarves have been pulled out of storage. my northface fleece is all washed and ready. this weeks weather looks fabulously fall like.

random thoughts

i've been so out of it lately. my brain feels like mush and my body feels worse. here are some of the thoughts going on in my head...

1. i'm a new advisor for my sorority at UK and i keep thinking, "what did you get yourself into?". i mean, don't get me wrong i love it so far and i really want to help but i'm used to being in bed by 9:30 pm and lately that's not happening when i have meetings to attend. however, it's well worth bringing the panda stuff back.

2. i was walking on UK's campus tonight and feeling pretty damn old.

3. my engagement ring is at the jewelers and i want it back. T says i'm much nicer with it on.

4. i'm super thrilled to be planning our wedding but with all the options out there it's a bit overwhelming. at least i have sooooooo many people willing to help.

5. the people i work for have two westies and they keep killing birds. i'm getting a bit tired of seeing or hearing about dead birds. seriously, birds terrify me and i might have to quit my job if this doesn't change!

6. in the last week i've gotten more stuff in the mail than in the last 6 months. it's cool how people want to send you stuff when you get engaged. if you'd like to send something e-mail me for my address. (kidding!!!)

7. dallas is snoring right now. as is T. and the fan is on. it's going to be a loud night.

8. i'm making my dog a bow tie for the wedding. even if he doesn't come. is that ridiculous? yes. do i care? no.

9. i love october.

10. T's birthday is november 7th. i'm already thinking about how to make it awesome. but let's be real...his idea of awesome and my idea of awesome are two totally different ideas.

11. getting off work at 3 pm on a monday is rad. but it also makes you not want to go back the next day.

12. T and i raced at the gym the other day. and while i knew he'd beat me, i didn't know how close the race would be. i was super pumped. but don't tell him that! he says he was only giving 75%. yeah. right.

13. i could spend all day on pinterest and never get bored.

14. i have to be at the AOII halloween date party. T's coming. what should we be?

15. i need more facetime in my life. who wants to chat?
