What a great weekend...

So I had the most fab weekend in a while...well since the lake last weekend!

It started with being off Friday and getting to hang with the rooms and Trav. Then later that night we went downtown to Cheapside for drinks and girl talk with my friend Maggie. Haven't seen Mags in so long so there was much catching up to be done. Plus with a little bit of drama, Barclay cut her finger on a broken glass at the bar and thus received a free drink, you can never be bored.

Saturday was even better. Woke up early and headed downtown to the farmer's market. Everyone and their dog was there (literally!) so I wished I had brought Dal but next time we'll test those waters! We bought some great stuff; lettuce, cheese, bread, strawberries and the best salsa I've had in a long time. I like to think of myself as a salsa connoisseur, and thus I've tried many a salsas. My fav is from Mi Cocina in Dallas. Mostly because it's so sticking hot and I cry just about every time I eat it but also because that's got to be my most fav restaurant ever! But this salsa is pretty high up there with that one. It's made in Shelby county so I feel good buying local and it's just so fresh and hot. I bought the Fire Alarm flavor and it's H-O-T-T, hot! After the farmer's market we went to the pool and laid out. Everyone at the pool loved Dal and he was being so good but the manager kicked him out...boo. We came home and took the best nap ever and then I went to dinner with Trav.

Today was spent in Louisville with the fam. I spent all afternoon with Grandpa Doug and Glenda. I hadn't seen them in a while so it was nice to catch up and tell them all about graduation. And Glenda and I made a game plan for a new/better resume which I'm keeping my fingers crossed will help with the job search. Then it was off to Jordan's choir recital. It was a great stomp musical about Joseph and all the kids were great. Then we celebrated Jillian and Josh's birthdays with dinner and dessert. This week is filled with birthdays, Jillian's tomorrow, Josh's Tuesday and Dallas' first on Saturday (pics to come!).

With all the birthdays and my bff Jennifer visiting tomorrow (YAY!) this is going to be a busy week, oh and I'm working too. Should make for some great blogs later on so keep on coming back, I know you can't resist!

The kiddos

So most of you would like to see the kids I babysit. Here's the one and only pic I have.

Ian is on the left and Cole is the baby. They were watching Cows, also known as Barnyard. Usually I would be in the middle watching as well but I took this when I was about to leave.

I don't have to work again until Wednesday. I've got a busy week ahead, but I'm sure I'll have lots to blog about.
Later dudes.

Typical Thursday

So here's a couple of convos with Ian that are becoming second nature to me...enjoy!

1.
Me: "Ian! Are you doing something bad? Because you're only quiet when you're doing something you know not to do."
Ian: "Yes Assley. I'm been bad."
Me: "What did you do?"
Ian: "I don't vreally know but it's not good."
Me (going into the kitchen and seeing a huge mess of formula on the counter and floor): "Ian, why did you do this?"
Ian: " I jus don't know."
Me: "Ian tell me right now why you decided to play with the formula or you're going straight to time out."
Ian: "Otay, otay. Talm down Assley."
Me: "Well, are you going to tell me?"
Ian: "Just give me a minute...um...I can't tell you."
Me: "Why not?"
Ian: "I just can't and that's all."

2.
Ian's mom, Lynn, came home early today and was sitting at the table working on her laptop before I left.
Lynn: "Do you know if someone won the powerball last night?"
Me: "Yeah, someone in South Dakota."
Lynn: (slapping her hand down on the table) "Damn it! I wanted to win!"
Ian: (mimicking his mom) "Damdid it...hahahaha. Damed it, damed it, damed it...hahaha"
Lynn: "Ian don't say that. Mommy didn't mean to say that."
Ian: "Yes you did mommy, damdid it...hahahaha"
Me: (thinking to myself) "You just taught your kid how to say damn it, good luck with that!"
And on that note I left for the day!

George freakin' Strait

I just love George. Tonight was his Country artist of the decade concert. It was so good. A lot of country stars were there like, Tim and Faith, Taylor Swift, Garth, LeAnn Rimes etc. They all sang his songs but the best was when Jamie Foxx sang "You look so good in Love", wow! George is such a humble man despite everything he has. I appreciate an artist that still thanks God because most wouldn't have what they do without the All Mighty from up above. Plus he's 57 and still looks amazing...I mean I would totally be all over that, if he weren't married and I didn't have Travis (I guess!).

P.S. to explain the freakin' in the title...today I was informed by the dad that Ian is putting freakin' in front of everything. So according to Ian, I love George freakin' Strait!

Blah

So today was interesting...

First, I had to babysit so I'm driving to work and I decide to stop at this little bitty gas station to get some juice and possibly a bagel or donut or something. I go in and go to the coolers and pull out the cran-grape juice...it's hot. Not warm but hot. The lovely lady behind the counter says, "Oh yeah, our cooler is broken. Do you want some ice with that?" Great...hot juice with my hot biscuit on an 80 degree day, SWEET!

Second, not five minutes after the parentals leave the baby wakes up and he must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed because the only time the kid didn't cry today was when he was drinking his bottle or taking a nap. I felt horrible for him.

Third, amongst all the crying I had to play doctor with Ian. Are you kidding me? His parents thought it would be a great idea to give him a syringe (without the needle, thank goodness!). So he proceeded to give me shots for about five hours total today. I've had my fair share of shots but this was completely different. Like this one time, I think I was 6 or so, I had to get a shot in the bum at the doctor's office and it hurt so bad that I cried through the white paper on the bed and Josh made fun of me because he saw my butt and said my tears were really pee. I was so upset, but today was WAY worse. This kid stuck that empty syringe in my arm, leg and stomach so hard that you'd have thought he was defending himself from King Kong.

Then I get home and am watching some silly Star Wars movie with Trav and Dalpal. At least I'm eating chocolate ice cream!

Oh Holy Laketime!

YAY!!!!!!
So it's Memorial Weekend and the only logical place to be is at the lake, Lake Cumberland to be exact. I just love the lake. It's a great place to relax and just hang with the fam and friends. Josh and I went down Thursday night and we took Dallas. I wasn't exactly sure how he'd act since it was all very new. Everyone loves him. They keep saying, "Oh he's beautiful" or "Hey there big boy!". One lady even commented on how it mu
st be his first time because he was going everywhere sniffing and licking. The cutest thing was when he would stick his nose way up in the air sniffing. I like to think he follows after his mama and was taking in the whole lake experience with all five senses!

Now, you'd think that being a lab he'd love the water but truth of the matter is, he just hasn't been around water enough. We went to Lake Michigan last Labor Day and he did get in but the waves were so big and he was so little.

That pic is in Michigan and he didn't stay in the water much. But he did do a whole lot of laying around!

But I think I have officially made my boy into a lake dog. Now we didn't get in the water (it was way too cold) but going to the lake really isn't about getting in the water. It's about being on the water in the boat. Letting the wind blow through your hair, feeling the bump of the waves under the boat and the hot dock on your bare feet. It's a way of life and if I could I would sell everything I own (minus dallas and my macbook!) and buy a boat and live on it.

I just LOVE the lake!

On another note...

P.S.
Mom had surgery on her ear today and is doing wonderful (mostly because of the drugs!) and is recuperating for the next week or so. So glad you're doing well and thanks to everyone who was thinking about her and praying for her surgery and a quick recovery. Love you mom!

Angels and Demons

So a couple of topics to talk about surrounding angels and demons...

1. I saw the movie last night. I'm disappointed. It was soooooo different from the book that it distracted me to watch it. I was sitting there thinking, "How could they change things so much and still make it a good story?" Well somehow they managed to make a good story out of it but it was just different and therefore I didn't like it better like the Da Vinci Code, that's for sure! I don't believe either of these books could actually be true but it makes for a good thrilling mystery movie and that's why I like them but you'd think they might make it a little more realistic.

2. I babysat today. It was weird because usually the baby is so good and the two year old, Ian is so not good. But today it must have been opposite day because the baby was feeling HORRIBLE. He's five months old but I think he's already teething. And so because of that I had to listen to him scream bloody murder for two hours. You should have seen/heard me. I was making faces I didn't know I could and saying cutesy things and going into higher octaves than humanly possible just to try to get this kid to smile, laugh or at the very least just shut the heck up. None the less Ian was pretty good today which made up for that, well not really but it did help. The one thing I can't get the boy to do is to leave all things that have to do with bathrooms or going potty alone. For instance today he pulled out all the wipes in his box and was playing with them in his room. What? Since when did wipes become toys? At least he has a great imagination? Then I go to use the bathroom and he has taken a whole role of toilet paper and unrolled it into the toilet...that's right it was all just sitting in the toilet, a wet sloppy mess. You would think being the great, awesome, amazing babysitter I am that I would have cleaned it. Well I did not. I just put the lid down and proceeded to use the master bath the rest of the day.
But as always tomorrow is another day.

3. I have my own little angel/demon at home and thought I'd share some photos!

Demon

Angel

Dallas starts training classes soon but I can tell he's growing up some. He's starting to listen better and he sleeps more than he used to. He's my little baby and love of my life...sorry Trav!

Josh's new car

So Josh got a new car. It's really cool, fast and blue!
He took Barclay and I for a ride the other day and wow! I almost peed my pants it was so fast. I'm just glad he has his own ride so I don't have to drive him around anymore. I'm thinking he could easily be my personal taxi for the next three months!

Something totally great happened today...

You may be thinking that I got a job or at the very least an interview but no it's WAY better than that!
Zaxby's on Richmond road opened today. This is one of the very best places to eat in the whole world. For those of you who don't know they have the best chicken tenders and texas toast not to mention the seasoning that they put on their fries. And now that there's one less than a mile from my house I don't have to drive across town to eat there. So Travis, Barclay, Cody and I pile in the 4Runner and head to Zaxbys. The only thing that would have made it more perfect would have been if they gave away free stuff but alas they didn't and so I payed my five dollars and ate the world's best chicken!

On a side note a few more things I would like to discuss.

1. I haven't been watching the Hills lately but did catch it tonight. Spencer asked Heidi to marry him...again and I just about threw up in my mouth. I can't even stand that show anymore. So glad Lauren's come to her senses and is leaving the show after this season.
2. I cried at the One Tree Hill season finale. I'm silly, I know. How is it that TV can make me cry like that. It was so silly. Lucas and Peyton had a baby and all of a sudden I start crying like one?
3. Dallas has an interview tomorrow with a kennel/doggy daycare. Let's hope he passes. My fingers are crossed and I'm praying! He's not a bad dog just has a touch of ADD and loves everyone. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Sorry I have no babysitting stories. I don't watch the boys again until Wednesday so until then you'll have to listen to just plain 'ole boring me.

It's been one week...

So I officially graduated from UK just over a week ago. You'd think I'd be happy (and I'm glad to be done with school) but I just keep thinking, "What the heck do I do now." So with all my extra time I'll be blogging. I love reading other peoples and now that I have a snazzy new macbook (thanks mom and kev!) I'll just do it.

Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm proud to say that I am nannying...yes, nannying. The very job I've had since I was 15 with no high school diploma let alone three college degrees. But alas this is my job and means of putting food on the table and in the bowl (for Dallas of course not for Barclay, I let her eat at the table!) My only hope is that while babysitting everyday for ten hours I can apply to as many jobs as humanly possible.

On another note, the kids I babysit are HILARIOUS and so I hope to have many fun things to talk about. For example, last week I was watching Ian by himself. He is two and is still in diapers but hates them. I didn't know he hated them until Wednesday, a day that will forever be burned into my memory. I was in the kitchen making a snack for Ian and he went into his room. All of a sudden I noticed it was very quiet.,, NOT GOOD. I went to check on him and found him ass naked sitting in his rocking chair "reading" a book. When I asked him what the heck he was doing (in my very stern but loving nanny voice) this is what he told me...
"Assly I hate dos silly diapers. I pooped and couldn't take it anymore."
I proceed to tell him that he cannot just take his diaper off and if he hates them so much then maybe we should just start potty training. That's when he told me...
"Talm down, talm down Assly. I didn't say I was ready for all that."
Seriously! This is the conversation I had with a two year old. Oh the joy of being a nanny.

We shall see what this week has in store.
