day 27: your pets

if you don't know about dallas then you're either living under a rock or you don't know me.

period.

he's the best dog in the world (maybe not behaviorally!).

he's so cute and cuddly.
he loves to give kisses and will lay on your feet to keep you warm.
he loves to play ball and run, run, run.
he'll do anything for a treat. or people food.
his fav person in the whole world is his daddy, travis.
and i truly believe he would kill anyone who tried to hurt me.
and to be honest, i like him more than a lot people out there! :)

he's my best friend and my baby. i love him and life just wouldn't be the same without him (am i really talking about my dog here?????!!!)

first day at home

this is the look i get from him 90% of the time

being goofy

pretty boy

sleeping beauty (also at his sweetest!)

check out this older post to see how i truly feel about my dog!

merry christmas!

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

now that i'm older, i have come to appreciate the true meaning of christmas.

while i love to watch people open gifts (and hey, i love opening them myself!) it's not what is important. i love this time of year because people are a little bit nicer, christmas music plays all day, i feel the urge to craft and bake and give, i visit with family and friends, and i just feel all warm and fuzzy, darn it!

but the real reason i love this time of year is because without our Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, there would be no christmas. i remember more now than all year long that i am lucky to have a Saviour that took on my sins so that i may spend eternity in Heaven with Him. so thank you Jesus and HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!

fyi: last year i had a great post about christmas here. feel free to refresh yourself with the true meaning of christmas.

love

i miss this little, wait a minute, big guy!

nutcracker

last weekend, barclay and i headed to louisville for christmas with jennifer and my family.

we started off at target, walking around each of us trying to find a gift for $20. i would recommend shopping together for any friends, it was so much fun! and it really put the pressure on you :) i ended up with a food chopper!

then we had lunch at jason's deli and scooted over to iceland for the nutcracker on ice!

barclay's cousin, ashton, is a ice skater and her group performed the nutcracker for the 7th year. it was great! i've never seen anything on ice and i love the nutcracker, so it was a perfect combo!

there were older people and little bitties on the ice and they were all so good!

then we headed to grandma and grandpa's house for some presents (they did so good giving me old family pics and an album and picture box!!) and chit chat.

then we had dinner with dad and the fam at outback and went back to their house for some more presents!

it was a great weekend and an early start to the christmas celebration!

day 24: something you've learned

i've learned recently that...

love isn't always enough.

people can never meet your expectations (or even try) if you set them too high. although, don't sell yourself short and set them too low either. there's def a happy medium there!

your dog really can be your best friend.

money doesn't make you happy.

friends love you no matter what.

family is really the most important thing to me.

and that i can't wait to start some of my own traditions!

day 23: fav vacation

my favorite vacation would have to be all the trips to florida i took while travis was living there.

we went to disney three times and also naples and tampa/clearwater.

while i'm not a huge fan of florida (i would NEVER live there) i do like to go to the beach and visit the most magical place on earth!

day 22: fav city

well, since i'm two days late i'm going to keep this short and sweet.

i have two fav cities.

1. chicago. i love this city. there's so much to do. the pier, the museums, the restaurants, the parks. i'd totally move there except the winter would kill me!

2. i love san antonio! i was born here and one day would love to move back. there's so much rich texan history (hello alamo!) and the river walk is great. i also love shopping at bless your heart and going to grandma and grandpa's house!

sorry no pics!

day 21: pic of myself

this is from sarah's wedding back in september.

side note: it's weird to post a pic of just me on my own blog. don't really like it!

christmas craft #14

merry elves by mary englebreit

i found this great blog and they put out a craft online zine of sorts. it's awesome and has tons of christmas crafts for people of all kinds. i decided i needed some elf decor and loved these.
now i won't lie to you and say that these were simple but if you have some patience and keep going you can get some done. i did five and then called it quits but i love them!

what you'll need:
mod podge
empty toilet paper rolls
the template for the elves (page 22 of the christmas issue)
felt
pipe cleaners
scissors
fabric glue

cut everything out

spread mod podge all over your toilet paper roll

roll on the elf

here he is!

glue the hat template to the felt. i used a dark gray but you could use whatever color you like!

glue the sides of the hat together with fabric glue

glue the pipe cleaner on the edge. i used fabric glue here to because it held better than the mod podge.

add his arms and a little ball to the top of his hat and place them all around your house!

day 20: nicknames

ash
peav
peavler
peavy
a
achely
actually

day 19: something you miss

1. family traditions
2. living in the sorority house
3. grandma brendie
4. christmas mornings as a kid
5. dallas as a puppy (more like being a tiny puppy and not 85 lbs!)

day 18: something you regret

i don't really have regrets. i think life is made up of choices, a cause and effect if you will. i've made choices that have led me to where i am and given me different opportunities. however, if i could maybe, possibly change somethings i would have studied abroad, visited with my great grandparents more and gone on one wild spring break trip with my sorority sisters!

day 17: something you're looking forward to

um, hello! do you not remember this sweet early christmas present?

of course the thing i'm most looking forward to is being in TEXAS (austin and dallas!) in less than one week.

i get to spend myra's birthday and christmas in austin with mom's side of the fam. and then i get to spend a couple days with mom when she gets back from her vacation.

and i just found out that she and greg are spending new years in louisville so i'll get to see them even more (and i get to dogsit brinks for five whole days!!!!!).

the next three weeks are going to be AWESOME!!!

update: dalpal

dallas is just about ready for christmas! he's been helping me with our christmas crafts (yeah right! i wish.) and getting in the spirit with his very own christmas cookies! i bet he's looking forward to seeing what santa puts under the tree for him, too.

snowman cookie from the dog bakery!
he devoured it. and then asked for seconds!

he loves christmas crafts so much that he's wearing one!

and then he got irritated...

really irritated!

then i found him like this at 9pm. he was worn out from all the christmas stuff going on. he had gone upstairs and got in bed all on his own.

he didn't even move when i turned the light on!
