my memoirs

if i were to write a book, it would be about nannying. the funny stuff. the weird stuff. the gross stuff. the bad stuff.

i probably never will but if i did, this would be my intro...

"Some call me the babysitter. Others the nanny. I myself like to be called the baby whisperer.

Not like the horse whisperer or the dog whisperer. I don't pretend to talk to babies and have then understand me or for me to totally get their goo goo ga ga, jibber jabber, baby babble.

More like I'm just that awesome with the kiddos. Especially girls; pieces of cake those sweet things are when I play dress up or arts and crafts. But once the boys find out I don't mind playing in the dirt too, they're like putty in my hands.

I guess you could call it a mutual understanding. I understand that they have a need to be whiny and annoying and full of energy and they understand that I'm not mom and dad. I will not love them unconditionally and I really would just like to get paid and say see ya later.

Not really. Most of the kids I work for (because yes, they're the real boss) become like my own children. And while I do get to go home before six and don't return for almost 14 hours, at some point, after spending 50 plus hours a week with them, they sort of just become yours.

Here are the real stories of my nanny diary..."

happy birthday dr. seuss!

if you were anything like me as a kid, you loved books! i still do but find it harder and harder to read as life gets in the way. i can remember sitting in my grandma's lap and reading dr. seuss books as a little girl. it seemed like she had all his books and i could look at them forever. the colors, the rhymes, the creatures! i'm still in love!

here are my fav books by the seuss...

and because dr. seuss is so good at giving me advice for real life, here's an excerpt from oh the places you'll go that's especially relevant to me at the moment.

I’m sorry to say so
but, sadly, it’s true
that Bang-ups
and Hang-ups
can happen to you.

You can get all hung up
in a prickle-ly perch.
And your gang will fly on.
You’ll be left in a Lurch.

You’ll come down from the Lurch
with an unpleasant bump.
And the chances are, then,
that you’ll be in a Slump.

And when you’re in a Slump,
you’re not in for much fun.
Un-slumping yourself
is not easily done.

But, Somehow you’ll escape

And once more you’ll ride high!
Ready for anything under the sky.

Oh, the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done!
There are points to be scored. There are games to be won.

what am i reading?

in 2011 i really wanted to start reading more. i heard great things about this book and decided i just had to read it. good thing it's a trilogy because i love it!

it's so good in fact that i had to leave it at home today for fear that i would finish it at work instead of warm and cozy in my bed tonight!

happy.

i'm getting this book tonight! i couldn't be more excited to read a book. ever. and since school starts in less than 2 weeks, i think i can actually read it all before reading textbooks becomes my life again.
