Daddy's Day

Yesterday was T's first father's day.

I'm sure it wasn't exactly what he wanted.

There was no nap.
No expensive meal.
No extravagant gift.

But there was time with his wife and son who love him very much.

And so, I'm sure if you ask him, it was perfect!

as mentioned on my friday's fabulousness last week, T and i were super excited (and beyond blessed!) to have an engagement party thrown for us by my wonderful aunt and uncle in louisville. i thought i'd share some of my fav pics of the night!

it really was such a great night. most of our friends and family made great efforts to be there. some came from far, new york and colorado and some not too far but they were all there for the two of us and we couldn't be for thankful.

of course it wouldn't have been such a great night without my aunt and uncle (and sweet b) who put everything together and said some very sweet things about the T and i.

we had a great time and by the feel of my hangover the next day, i'd say the wedding won't be anything less!

wishes: december must dos

every year i have a list of things i must do during the month of december. sometimes i don't always get through it all but i try really hard. this year, T must also do these things with me. i'm sure he's hating it but he's so sweet he'll never say! 

1. christmas movies. my list includes all the harry potters, just friends, the grinch, a christmas carol, polar express, little women, charlie brown, love actually, you've got mail, a christmas story, it's a wonderful life, elf and the family stone.

2. visit family on christmas eve and day. 

3. christmas lights. we must go see light somewhere. anywhere as long as their twinkling!

4. play christmas music every day. 

5. baking. i don't care if it's cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, cakes, muffins, peppermint bark, etc. as long as it's decorated and smells heavenly. and has sugar, duh.

6. craft. sew. craft. sew. 

7. decorate the house. although we started the weekend before thanksgiving this year, oops. i wish my house looked like this...

today i'm thankful for my little brother! he's pretty awesome. i don't think he even knows how awesome he is, which makes him even more awesome. get it?!

crafts: my first quilt

i can finally post the picture of the baby quilt i made for my cousin carrie's baby boy. can't wait for baby zane to be here in about 6 weeks!!!

for the longest time i've been wanting to quilt but i thought it would be so hard and i didn't want to mess it up.

well i agreed to make one for this baby shower and it would be a gift from my grandma cheryl and i so i knew i couldn't disappoint.

well you probably do but not as much as this guy...

on monday we celebrated my grandpa doug's birthday and i handmade him some angry bird characters. i got the patterns here and with the help of my sewing teacher completed the large green pig and the original red angry bird! i plan on making the rest of the characters for christmas (he already knows this!). i'm so happy he loved his gift.

today is her birthday.

she's forty, uh, twenty nine years young! :)

and i'm pretty sure i'm one of hers...maybe. especially now that i'm on my own and don't beg for money anymore. mostly.

in all seriousness though, she's one amazing woman. i'm so lucky God chose her to be my mom and give thanks for her daily. she's always been there for me and i value her not only as my mother but as my friend too.

mini vacay

here's some pics from our mini vacation to the lake this past weekend.

i think someone was getting a little delirious at this point on the way home. i'm not even going to attempt to explain this one!

we had a great, easy and relaxing weekend. hopefully we'll go again at least once before summer is officially over. although, i wouldn't mind if summer, or rather the heat, was officially over!

july 4th

fourth of july was another great holiday at the lake.

we had a smaller crowd this time (missed you grandma, grandpa, chris, connie and the girls!) but we still had A LOT of fun!

it was pretty rough out there with all the boats and we all got pretty beat up but it was a lot of fun!

we ended the weekend with fireworks out on the dock.

with all the food, boating, tubing and visiting we had a great weekend filled with laughter and good times. we can't wait to get back and maybe take it a little easier next time!
