friday's fabulousness

this week's fab is a little random. here we go.

1. hoping to finish up a baby quilt this weekend. my first quilt! i'm so excited for the outcome and i just know the person i'm giving it to will love it!

2. T and i will have to finalize our halloween costumes this weekend. my vote?

i love mary poppins!

3. i'm hoping (more like praying!) that i can drag T to boyds orchard sunday. it might be our only chance to go apple and punkin' pickin'!

4. i'm officially giving up soft drinks. i mean, they really are terrible for you but they just make me feel so lousy. my stomach and head have been aching all week and i'm pretty sure it's because i've drank more soft drinks this week than the entire month of september. sad face because i love me some dr. pepper.

(i whole heartedly agree with this statement.)

5. and just an fyi (and because i loved this template but won't be able to use it for the wedding!)

p.s. planning a wedding is super fun when you get to all the creative/diy stuff but finding a caterer and photographer and all that junk is seriously blowing my mind. at least it ends with T and me married!

update: home decor

so here's my end of fall/thanksgiving home decor. i've never been huge into thanksgiving decor but this year i wanted to change that up a little.

leaves and turkey prints

turkey plate i bought from homegoods for $2!

another leaf print on the desk

pine cone and leaf candles

the turkey on the far right was $5 at homegoods. i love that place! and the clear thing in the middle is a votive candle holder and i got it on sale (for real cheap!) at z gallerie this past weekend.

cute little bean bag turkey guy

the only things i changed: i added the leaf pillow and took the candy corn out of the hurricanes. what should i put in there now? i need help with that! might just wait until christmas and put in m&m's in red and green.

this is my fav area of thanksgiving decor. i got the pilgrims buy one get one at gordmans and the prints are from craftily ever after. she has some great printables (and they're all free!). my favs were the keep calm and cranberry on, the gather with grateful hearts, and keep calm and gobble on!

hope you like. this stuff will only be out until thanksgiving but i love it! and i'm getting even more excited about decorating for christmas now!

this nightlight came from grandma pfau. they bought it in tennessee while on vacation and i love it!

changed out the photos for some creepy crawly critters!

wheel of fortune anyone?!

even the desk gets decorated.

new owl towel from bless your heart. and other fun fall stuff in the half bath.

love this luminary from bath and body.

fall decor

jack o lantern provided by trav and the leaf dish holds fall kisses.

my new bookshelf i just couldn't live without! this is probably my most fav collection of decor in the house.

close up of the candy corn vase fillers (thanks mom!), the owl pitcher trav bought me, and my gourds in the vintage tray.

creepy spider.

that's all i got. there's nothing going on upstairs. if you think this is crazy just wait until christmas!

quote of the week.

so i haven't done a quote of the week in a loooong time. sorry. i've been busy. no that's a lie. i mean, i have been busy but not too busy to do that. and it's not like i'm lacking in the quote department. liv's hilarious as ever and lilly's getting there so maybe it's just a lack of remembering to blog about it? i have no idea. i mean, give me a break i'm going to be 25 in like four months so basically i have dementia.

any who, here are some funny things olivia has said recently.

"mommy, don't leave. i want you to stay here all day." "olivia if i don't go to work then you can't go to the museum today with ashley." "bye mommy and have a great day!"

"achely, travis is your friend right?" "yes liv he is." "well he's my boyfriend."

"my butt is all squishy"

"achely, can i sit on your head?" "no liv, you can't sit on people's heads." "okay, how bout your face?"

and here's a cute little story from today.

the girls and i headed to the children's museum downtown today and once we got there we just had to go to the bubble room. liv was trying to do the station where you stand in the middle of a giant bubble ring and pull up to put yourself inside a bubble. well, the rudest little boy jumped in, popping her bubble and pushing her out of the way. she came over crying and was very upset. i told her to just ignore him and that we would wait until he left and then go back to that station. well, we waited our turn and low and behold he did it again. i was so mad that i said something to the little boy and he stuck his tongue out at me. i then proceeded to tell his mother that he was being rude and rough and i did not appreciate his behavior. (p.s. when did i become such a mother?) i have no idea if that was a good idea or not and she didn't seem too worried about it but they did finally leave the bubble room and we got to play uninterrupted. liv looked up and me and said "you know, i love you achely." heart melting, tears coming, i said "i love you to liv."

great start to my fav month of the year! happy october 1st.

fall scents

barclay and i recently went a little crazy at bath and body works.

we snatched up all the fall and some winter scented candles.

i'm telling you, candles have come a long way recently and i think b&b have some of the best ones out there and at such reasonable prices.

these are my favs...
sweet cinnamon pumpkin
kitchen spice
creamy pumpkin (my personal fav)
cranberry woods
and for winter...twisted peppermint

also, in case you're interested they're having a sale on the big candles, 2 for $20...huge savings!

and i also bought this for halloween...

just stick your three wick candle in and get to spookin'!

fall bedding

i would love to be one of those people that changes their bedding with the changing seasons. alas, i am not. partly due to lack of bedding and money to buy new bedding but also because i can't ever make up my mind. i want new bedding all the time, not just with each season!

here are four bedding ensembles i found and love.

if you're a quilt person check out this set at pottery barn. it makes me miss my grandma brendie!
i love this mustard color. it's like a squash! and the geometric print is to die for. check out west elm.

this is a great stripe in very fall colors from crate & barrel. it's also very masculine looking for those sharing a bed with a man!

and this is actually a 'bed in a bag' from macy's. how wonderful to get every piece you see here for less than $200? awesome.

i think i love fall so much more than the other seasons because of the deep and rich colors. the reds, mustards, oranges and deep greens. oh my!

p.s.

martha stewart is the craft god! please check these other craft projects out. i'm making them all. right. now. (well, not really but you get the picture!)

nut wreath

i told you the fall posts were coming!

here's a craft i'm DYING to try. i'm thinking this weekend will be full of fall craftiness.

Tools and Materials
Hot-glue gun
2 bags (1 pound each) walnuts in the shell
24-inch flat wooden wreath form
1 bag (1 pound) each almonds, hazelnuts, and pecans in the shell
Wide ribbon

Nut Wreath How-To
Hot-glue walnuts to a 5-inch-long segment of 1 side of wreath form, varying direction of nuts.

Fill spaces between walnuts with the other nuts, hot-gluing them to the form and the walnuts as you work.

Repeat, working in sections, to cover the wreath form completely. Be sure to adhere nuts to inner and outer edges of wreath form to conceal it entirely.

Tie ribbon around wreath.

ta da! if you have any other fall crafts you just love, help a sista out!
