crafts: tote bag

i got the idea to do this while perusing the aisles of hobby lobby. yeah, i do that quite often!

supplies:

tote bag (so glad i had a 40% off coupon. this only cost me $6!)

stencil of choice

paint color of choice (i used acrylic because i'll only be spot cleaning this tote but you could use fabric paint if you want)

tape down your stencil where you'd like the design to be on your tote.

i used a foam brush to apply the paint and got this. it's not perfect but i still LOVE it!

this tote will be perfect for summer (pool or beach anyone?!)

two questions:

1. since there are two sides to the tote (duh) should i stencil both sides or just leave the one?

2. there is enough room on both sides of the design to stencil again. would it look better with three on there? or i could try to find a smaller stencil of the same design and do one on either side then. what do you think?

happy birthday dr. seuss!

if you were anything like me as a kid, you loved books! i still do but find it harder and harder to read as life gets in the way. i can remember sitting in my grandma's lap and reading dr. seuss books as a little girl. it seemed like she had all his books and i could look at them forever. the colors, the rhymes, the creatures! i'm still in love!

here are my fav books by the seuss...

and because dr. seuss is so good at giving me advice for real life, here's an excerpt from oh the places you'll go that's especially relevant to me at the moment.

who doesn't love a stuffed burger and this press makes it so easy and all for only $12.

not only do i love these arrows but they have keys, owls, crowns, sailboats and soooooo much more!

this fashion blog is so cute and i love her style. wish i could pull some of that off. and i'd die for her shoe collection!

4. fabrics

currently i'm loving these two a lot but i've recently discovered designer fabrics (not just your plain janes from hobby lobby or joanns.) and i die. seriously i die because they're so cute and so pricey. darn. a little splurge every now and then can't hurt, right?
