I hate complaining but...

I know I shouldn't complain but I just have to get this off my chest.

He loves Grandpa Kev's boots!
Neighborhood watchdog.
Dal with mommy on grad day.
Taking a nap in my cold, cold room!
At dog beach in Michigan...just a baby!

I know not everyone is a dog lover. Most people might consider themselves dog people but it's totally different than a dog lover. You see a dog lover spoils their dog rotten. They let it lay in their lap, sleep in their bed, lie on the couch, eat people food, share a ice cream cone, give kisses all over their face, and pretty much anything most people would let their kids do.
Now I don't have children (thank goodness!) but I do have Dallas. He is my child, my little baby, my nugget, my punkin pie, etc. I love him more than anything because he's all mine and he depends on me. Without me he'd have no home, no food, no toys. I picked him out myself and the day he came home I felt like my life had changed forever. There are so many days when I come home to an empty house and if it weren't for Dal I'd be lonely. I talk to him like he understands and ask him about his day. To sum up how much I love my dog let me just say...if I had to choose between buying dog food or food for me, I'd choose the dog food every time.

So, I've chosen to be a dog lover and to have a big dog and to bring him along most places but when someone makes me choose between my dog or a trip or getting to spend time with certain people, I'm going to choose Dallas. He's my child. Some may not understand but think about how much you love your children and that's what it's like for me and Dallas.

Merry Christmas!
Halloween as Dallas Cowboy players.
Halloween take two: Prince Charming!
Sleeping baby!
First day together!

Sorry about all that, I've just been feeling bitter about that. Now that that's off my chest I will quit complaining!
I'm still waiting to hear about the job and have to work tomorrow and have a busy weekend planned so, I shall have more interesting blogs to come!

Some Things I'm Peeved About

So I'm watching Jon and Kate Plus 8 right now and I'm just so darned ticked. Why are they explaining their separation on national television? I don't care how much money you make, leave the show and take care of business behind closed doors. This will forever change the lives of their children. Coming from a divorced family, you can never fully understand what happened and you never should. Because they've been on t.v. for so long their kids will see the downfall of their marriage one day and start asking questions. I just feel so sorry for the kids. I think if they looked back, they would have done things differently. I know not all marriages can work and some fall apart for the better but when you have eight kids and a t.v. show, it's hard to believe that they are really trying to solve things. I'm going to keep them in my thoughts and prayers because having divorced parents is hard, I can't imagine being on t.v. while going through that at such a young age, or really any age.

Another thing, Travis received an acceptance letter to UK's grad program today and when he went to campus to sign up for classes was told it was a mistake...WHAT? How do you accidentally tell someone they're in and then say oh, just kidding! But being the amazing, resilient man he is he turned this unfortunate event into a blessing. He will be starting MBA classes at Sullivan on Monday!!! YAY! He'll actually get done a little quicker and have more one on one attention because of the smaller class size. I'm so proud of him. I told him that if UK didn't work it's because the Lord has better plans for him and today the Lord provided a better solution, AMEN! I'm so lucky.

I think I'm done complaining...still patiently waiting to hear about the job but as soon as I do, I'll let you know.

Too bad tomorrow's Monday

So I had such a great weekend that I just don't want it to end. But, it has because I'm getting ready for bed and work comes so early tomorrow morn.

It started Friday. I had to work but I got off an hour early (yay!). Then I went on a little date with Trav to Panera and then to see a movie, Land of the Lost. Unless you really just love Will Ferrel like I do I wouldn't recommend this. It's kinda stupid funny and we were the only people in the theater, if that tells you anything!

Then Saturday I got ready to go to Louisville for the weekend while Travis took the GRE. I'm so proud of him. He did way better than last time and that's all you can ask for! He's been studying so hard and it's payed off, plus now he can be done until school starts and maybe we can go out on dates more often! wink, wink! We left for Louisville around four that afternoon for a cook out at Grandma and Grandpa Peavler's. It was a BLAST! Dallas played outside all day and loved it. He was so good with all the kids, especially Kailey, my four year old cousin. He was so patient when she was throwing the ball and brought it right back to her and dropped it at her feet. It was so cute hearing her call him Dalpal too! Afterwards we headed to Dad's to spend the night...side note: how is it possible that I live an hour away and forget my underwear? Had to make a late night run to Wal-Mart! How awful/embarrassing!

Today we went to church at Highview. I love going there because it's a rare occasion. After church we headed to Six Flags for Father's day and swam and rode roller coasters. It was so fun and now I'm beat.

I'm so thankful for my dad and for all the other men in my life that are like father's. Great men of God, who are always loving and wise and helpful. I love you all!

Dad
Kev
Grandpa David
Grandpa Doug
Grandpa Pfau
Happy Dad's Day!

Long wait

So I know y'all been wondering what the heck is going on with me...

I've interviewed with a private school in Louisville to teach high school Spanish. My first interview was last Thursday and then this Thursday I had a lunch interview with the department head. We spoke Spanish for the majority of the lunch and to be completely honest, I was a spaz! This happened to be my first interview in Spanish and I really want the job as well and it was raining so hard on the way there (I thought I was going to die!). I'm sure she wasn't impressed but I don't think it was a true reflection of my education and skills in Spanish so hopefully she noticed that. We did have a great conversation about the school and what it's like to be a private school teacher.
My goal is go to grad school next fall for my master's in teaching a world language. There are programs all over but if I got this particular job I would go to the University of Louisville or Bellarmine. I would just love the opportunity to teach and make sure that this is the path the Lord want's me to take. I just have such a passion for languages, especially Spanish and a passion for kids. After teaching kindergarten and first grade, I decided that it's much better than nannying and I just loved being part of the learning process.
So, I'll find out Monday if I got the job. I'm praying hard that I do but I know that if I don't God has better plans for me and I'll just move on to something else. God is great and I'm not going to over analyze the plans he has for me...if I did I'd spend my whole life wasting time worrying!
Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts I appreciate all my family and friends and their continual support.
Also, please think about Travis tomorrow as he is taking the GRE!!!!!
We've got a busy weekend ahead, a bar-b-q, Father's day, Six Flags, Louisville, fam and friends and church at Highview!
Happy Weekend y'all!

I love Sundays!!

I think I'm one of those people that lives for Sundays. Most people like the entire weekend but I just want to get through it to get to Sunday.

Today I went to lunch with Barclay, ate a great Asian salad and drank sweet tea. Then picked Josh up for an adventure with Dallas at the dog park. He loves it there! Today must have been lab day at the park because there were about six of them. Dallas was the only yellow and by far the best looking one! Then we went to dinner with Travis, Sharon and Kalli. Taking it back to high school days at Chili's. Then I babysat Kalli so Josh and Sharon could have a real date at the movies. She did pretty well but definitely missed her mommy and Josh!

To say the least it was a great Sunday! And bless the Lord, I don't have to work tomorrow so it can be Sunday all over again!

I'll leave you with this...thanks Craig Morgan!

Raymond's in his Sunday best,
He's usually up to his chest in oil an' grease.
There's the Martin's walkin' in,
With that mean little freckle-faced kid,
Who broke a window last week.
Sweet Miss Betty likes to sing off key in the pew behind me.

That's what I love about Sunday:
Sing along as the choir sways;
Every verse of Amazin' Grace,
An' then we shake the Preacher's hand.
Go home, into your blue jeans;
Have some chicken an' some baked beans.
Pick a back yard football team,
Not do much of anything:
That's what I love about Sunday.

I stroll to the end of the drive,
Pick up the Sunday Times, grab my coffee cup.
It looks like Sally an' Ron, finally tied the knot,
Well, it's about time.
It's 35 cents off a ground round,
Baby. cut that coupon out!

That's what I love about Sunday:
Cat-napping on the porch swing;
You curled up next to me,
The smell of jasmine wakes us up.
Take a walk down a back road,
Tackle box and a cane pole;
Carve our names in that white oak,
An' steal a kiss as the sun fades,
That's what I love about Sunday,
Oh, yeah.

Ooh, new believers gettin' baptized,
Momma's hands raised up high,
Havin' a Hallelujah good time
A smile on everybody's face.
That's what I love about Sunday,
Oh, yeah.

That's what I love about Sunday,
Oh, yeah.

"Pissin' Me Off"

So one of the things I hate about babysitting is when I have to babysit while the parents are actually there. Today the mom didn't leave until 10 am, so I was there for three hours with her and the boys. Any of you who are parents pay attention to what I'm about to say!

Kids do NOT listen to the babysitter when mom and/or dad are at home.

It is a proven fact. In the ten plus years I've been babysitting in every home I go to, they just don't want anything to do with you if mom or dad is home.

So my story continues...
I'm trying to get Ian to play with me as he is ramming his drivable train into the bathroom door. I told him if he did it one more time I was taking it away. So, what does he do? Of course he rams the door once again. I run to the door and take away the train. He throws a fit...go figure. But what I didn't count on was the convo that followed.

Ian: "You pissin' me off Assely."
Me: "What did you just say?"
Ian: "I say, you pissin me off. Now go way from me, I busy."
Me: "Yeah you are busy...busy sitting in time out in your room."
Ian: "No I busy doing somting else Assely."
Me: "Just go to your room before I have a massive heart attack from your naughtiness."
Ian: "HAHAHAHA!"

Wow, what a kid!
