so i did the tree so much better this year than years past! so proud of myself. here are some pics of the different layers and then the finished project!
first three layers. big silver ribbon and then smaller gold and silver garlands.
i tied plaid bows to some of the branches. never done this before and i thought it would be a pain but it was fairly easy and i'll do it every year now!
then i added the red and gold/silver ornaments. some had glitter, some velvet and some just plain. i had two different sizes of each color.
here's the finished project. i'm still looking for a tree skirt but i kind of like my grandmother's plaid quilt under there. plus it adds a sentimental touch. i also added some personal ornaments. i started collecting them when i was working in louisville on work trips and then i have some UK, AOII and dalpal ornaments.
i really love our tree this year. i will say that it's pretty small. i wish we had a huge one. but in hindsight it took me almost an hour and a half to do this one so a bigger one would take forever! i'll stick with the small one for now :)
